Assistant Professor, American Sign Language Education Job Summary: As the primary function, the full-time faculty member serves as a catalyst in the learning process by keeping current in the chosen field, presenting course content in an organized and motivating manner, and responding to students as distinct individuals with varied interests, needs and abilities. Campus: Varies Classification: Faculty Position Type: Full-time Curricular: If Faculty, Contract Length: 9 month Job Code Number: 4258F-1-18 Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Masters Degree in American Sign Language Teaching, ASL Linguistics, Deaf Education or Interpreting/Translating as an appropriate field of study required with a minimum of 18 hours in the discipline. ASLTA certification and/or RID Professional Certification is expected within a two-year period after hire. Qualified applicants nearing completion of a Masters Degree or 18 hours in the discipline will also be considered. Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college. Preferred Qualifications: Success teaching experience in ASL and/or interpreting related courses at the community college or university level. Teaching experience at the community college or university level.
