Technically you probably have: 2+ / 5+ years system administration experience (including a Linux environment) Significant experience using shell scripting to automate tasks. Some ability to code in at least one of the following languages in order to automate tasks: PHP, Ruby, Python, C, C++ Experience with configuration and maintenance of common applications and protocols such as Apache, MySQL, NFS, Squid, DHCP, SSH, DNS, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP Experience using configuration management / systems automation at scale (eg Puppet,Chef, Ansible,etc) Expertise in networking devices, concepts, and protocols (eg switches, firewalls, loadbalancers, NAT, TCP/IP, HTTP, etc) Knowledge of storage concepts including RAID levels, filesystems, performance tuning BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience As a Sys Admin / DevOps team member youll be responsible for: Working closely with theTech Ops team, software development teams, and other teams with an emphasis on clear communications and collaboration Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and services that will helpTenstreetmaintain its technical edge Balancing the need to "keep things running" with allocating time to long-term, high-impact projects Involvement in all aspects of the Tenstreet production infrastructure and services Combining open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business Producing systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and training others to take on operations Helping to ensure proper security, monitoring, alerting and reporting of the infrastructure Ownership of significant Ops projects (design, implementation,etc) Troubleshooting and resolving production issues (hardware/software/applications) Mentoring of other team members & non-Ops colleagues Participating in 24/7on callrotation Preferred: Experience running & scaling a successful always-on consumer internet service Experience with open source monitoring & alerting systems (eg Nagios, Graphite, etc.) Virtualization and block storage experience Working knowledge of Relational databases, SQL, and MySQL database administration.
