The entire Information Technology organization is in the middle of a digital transformation. This is helping us realign our priorities to have a more balanced approach to how we run the business of IT. This means things are changing and will continue to change. The team is comprised of software engineers of various levels supporting applications of various ages. We need strong, flexible, passionate people to participate in our quest to continuously improve while simultaneously supporting existing applications and processes.
What youll do
A Software Engineer III at BOK Financial is a hands-on technical leader. Youll contribute to the team by working with architects to design and implement end-to-end project solutions and take the lead on development projects. Youll also research new technologies looking for trends and opportunities to creatively support the needs of the business. As a technical leader, it is important for a Software Engineer III to mentor other software engineers and in an emergency, be the hero we need AND deserve to diagnose problems and provide quick solutions. It is also very important for you to effectively communicate with project managers, architects, development teams, and business staff to provide transparency and properly manage expectations.
What you should know how to do
Now that you know what youll be doing, lets take a moment to talk in a little more detail about what youll need to know and do to be successful in this role. In addition to what weve already talked about, youll need to be able to:
- Develop, test, debug and document applications. These applications include batch scripts, system integrations, working with data (e.g. stored procedures, ETL, reporting, etc.), web applications, and others.
- Review code for application of industry standard programming best practices. Youll also need to promote and establish internal programming best practices.
- Promote quality within the team. Plan, initiate, and conduct unit testing of applications as well as facilitate system testing and review error logs and assist others in debugging.
- As previously mentioned, you will take a mentor role on the project team, sharing technical and product knowledge with other team members. You will also assist other Software Engineers with development tasks as needed.
- Understand system performance and how to optimize code and enterprise interactions will be a crucial component.
- Participate in technology/tools evaluation and software technical proof of concepts.
- Display excellent object-oriented programming skills and analytical design skills.
- Have expertise in the development of multi-platform, distributed applications, and object-oriented programming
- Be a champion for application development security and work with our Information Security team to establish standards and best practices
- AND experience working with cloud technologies would be icing on the cake
We mainly utilize Microsoft technologies (.NET, C#, MSSQL, etc.) so youll need to be an expert with that technology stack. However, we have employed some Java and open source technologies so it would be great if you have some experience there as well. If not, you would need to be willing to learn new things and quickly become proficient when the need arises.
How do you show us you have what it takes? A degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience is preferred for this position. You can use extra years of experience in lieu of a degree. Certifications are another amazing way to show us the experience and knowledge youve gathered.
