This position is responsible for promoting a culture of safety and operational discipline by establishing health and safety standards and practices, providing for continuous improvement opportunities into health and safety performance, each by collaborating closely with operating and functional areas to ensure that safety programs and processes are usable, understood and consistently followed. The Manager : Employee Safety is responsible for directing a team of subject matter experts in the fields of industrial hygiene and occupational safety which serve as the Safety Center of Excellence in supporting the Company field EHS, operations and other functional teams.
:Establish and maintain all Company health and safety related policies and procedures
:Work closely with stakeholders in the operating and functional areas to ensure that established health and safety programs and policies are usable, understood and consistently followed
:Perform ongoing monitoring and evaluation of all Company incidents and near misses to proactively provide for improvement and mitigation opportunities
:Provide regulatory interpretation and determination into all applicable health and safety laws, standards and other guidance
:Develop and monitor leading and lagging metrics for health and safety performance
:Participate and/or lead incident investigations
:Participate in industry trade associations to learn and share best practices and opportunities in the areas of health and safety
:Work closely with peer leaders in Process Safety and EHS Assurance to ensure balanced and effective support for the company with proper change management approaches
:Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Occupational Safety, EHS, Industrial Hygiene or other technical discipline from accredited college or university
:10+ years' experience in the energy industry, predominantly with a broad natural gas gathering, processing and transmission emphasis.
:Experience in the EHS functional areas as well as exposure to other operations or business:related functions
:Demonstrated experience as a safety leader
:Demonstrated experience in an operational role is a plus
:Broad, summarized level of knowledge concerning industry codes, standards, and practices as well as regulatory requirements is required
:Broad general knowledge of financial procedures and practices, economic evaluation, organizational strategies and personnel management practices is a must
:Knowledge of OSHA regulations, behavior based safety experience
:Knowledge of industry safety best practices
:Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), NSC or similar equivalent recognized Occupational Safety and Health Certification(s) preferably CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification strongly preferred
