The Merchant Services Client Representative position is primarily responsible for providing a broad range of technical and operational support to TransFund merchants and financial institutions and for providing sales assistance to prospective merchant customers. Additionally, this position provides customer service and administrative support to Merchant Account Representatives by resolving merchant billing questions and settlement issues, administering the credit card processing system and monitoring various system generated reports.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
:Reviews the MD:050 Fraud Exception report to identify merchant activity that exceeds processing limits set by Account Representatives. Investigates exceptions and takes appropriate action including reviewing merchant activity, contacting the merchant for additional information, reviewing merchant applications and credit reports, and recommending adjustment of limits. Advises the merchant account representative or supervisor immediately when activity poses a financial loss to the merchant or financial institution due to fraudulent activity or when violation of Visa/MasterCard regulations or federal banking regulations is suspected.
:Initiates contact upon receipt of referrals or responds to phone inquiries to sell prospective customers on TransFund's merchant program. Provides an application packet and explains application procedures, fee schedules, operational procedures and contracts to prospective customers. Refers large volume or more specialized merchants to an Account Representative for customized pricing.
:Diagnoses and resolves operational and technical problems related to the proper functioning of various point of sale devices including: audio response unit, stand alone terminals and printers (including VeriFone, Hypercom, Lypman, Eclipse), software and Internet gateway products.
:Provides phone training to merchants and financial institutions regarding Visa/MasterCard Operating Regulations, TransFund procedures, fraud prevention, photo/retrieval requests and chargeback documentation, settlement timeframes, and various practices and prohibitions associated with credit card acceptance.
:Coordinates delivery of replacement equipment when necessary; ensures proper documentation for equipment repair and loan is completed; initiates documentation required for lease or purchase of point of sale equipment; ensures a terminal build is in place prior to download of replacement equipment.
:Provides phone instruction to merchants in the downloading or reprogramming of point of sale equipment and operational training when needed; provides written follow:up and operational reference guides to merchants and financial institutions.
:Assists merchants and financial institutions in the balancing and reconcilement of merchant activity reports by researching transaction detail to identify missing or duplicate transactions and providing instruction on corrective action.
